Personal branding is defined as “the conscious and intentional effort to create and influence public perception of an individual by positioning them as an authority in their industry, elevating their credibility, and differentiating themselves from the competition, to ultimately advance their career, increase their circle of influence, and have a larger impact.”
Okay… so what does that mean?
Your personal brand is how you portray yourself to your audience. Similar to a company’s branding, a personal brand can have specific colors, messages, and hashtags.
But, there are a few rules.
1. Be genuine
Don’t try to be someone you aren’t. Your brand is who you are, but will grow and change as you do.
2. Consistency, consistency, consistency
Being one person on Instagram and a totally different person on LinkedIn just isn’t a great look. Consistency shouldn’t be hard as long as you’re being genuinely yourself!
3. Live your brand
Your brand is who you are, so you should be living it at all times. Again, this shouldn’t be a difficult thing to do because our personal brands are GENUINE.
